Day at the Museum

Today we took the kids to the state museum in Columbia. My kids have been to the children's museum (Edventure) but not to the state museum so we thought it would be fun (plus we had free passes-thanks to my grandmother). The kids loved the museum and we explored all four floors of the building. There was a special exhibit going on called 'The Powers of Nature'. Chris, Nicholas, and Laurie Grace went through that exhibit...Jonathan did not like the loud thunder noises! So Jonathan and I went exploring the rest of that floor. We saw old timey cars and trucks to great big shark replicas. We saw the first train system and the slave trade route and the way they helped with the production of cotton. After all the exhibits, we took the kids down to the first floor where the museum has a play area built especially for kids set up. They loved playing in that area!! Of course, what's not to love about blocks, pirate steering wheels, tree houses, and NASA replicas?? They even got a small souvenior from their trip...

Nicholas went all out for the free chicken sandwich at Chick Fil A!
