Happy 100th day of school

Today is the 100th day of school!! It is hard to believe that my boys have been going to school for 100 days already this year. They both have been having a great year and really have enjoyed their teachers. Jonathan came home today with lots of fun things that they did at school today to celebrate the 100th day including a hat, snack consisting of 100 items, and some fun math facts!

Clown Day

January 21, 2010 was dress like a clown day at the ELC. Nicholas was excited because he really enjoys dressing up in costumes. This one we put together ourselves....we were going more for the hobo clown look! The kids did lots of circus related activities at school that day and even watched a movie about the circus. What fun!!

My star student

Each week Jonathan's teacher picks a student to be the 'star student' for the week. The week of January 11-15th-Jonathan was the star student! He got to share information about his family with the class, as well as his talent and some of his favorite things. Jonathan got sick during that week and had to miss school so his teacher graciously extended his time so that he could share all his 'treasures' with the class. I was so proud of Jonathan!! What a STAR!

Mrs. Evatt's class is being featured on WAME (Anderson Mill Elementary's school news program) in February. Jonathan has been chosen from the class as their 'good citizen'. He will appear on WAME on February 3rd! This is the second time that Jonathan has had the opportunity to appear on the news show. I am simply amazed that this introverted, shy little boy will even speak on TV. I am so proud that he is coming out on his shell some....

A Winter's Day Picnic

We don't usually see temperatures in the 60's in January, not even in SC. But we have hit 64 degrees twice this week....so the kids and I were invited to a picnic! Yes, a picnic in the middle of winter. Some of our friends from church invited us to take a picnic lunch to the playground. The kids did more playing than eating and I tried to do more talking than eating! I would love for the weather to stay this way but I'm sure there is still more winter on the way. I am thankful, though, for warmer days for I am reminded that another season is approaching and time is moving on....

Nicholas and Xan were watching a plane go by...
Even Spot loves the sunshine!

Daniel's bowling party

One of Nicholas' friends from preschool turned 5 in December and due to the holidays, his birthday party was held today. I also ran into our neighbors that were attending another party for a child that had their actual birthday in December too. Nicholas was so excited since the party was at the bowling alley. The kids ate pizza, cake and ice cream, and opened presents all before they actually did any bowling. Some of the kids could hardly wait including Nicholas! He loved every minute of his bowling though. I did manage to get him to stop long enough to get two shots...that's it! He told me that he really had a great time at the party...Happy Birthday Daniel!

Teddy Bear Picnic

Nicholas had a teddy bear picnic today at preschool. He and all his classmates brought their favorite stuffed animal to class today and they all shared a picnic lunch. They also voted on their favorite animals and each child was awarded a 'medal' that their stuffed animal won. Nicholas took a bear dressed in a football uniform that he made at Build A Bear workshop last year. He loves that bear and sleeps with it every night. His bear won the medal for 'Best Sports Bear'. He was so proud and excited when he got in the car this afternoon. He even told me about other kids' bears. I think he really enjoyed the teddy bear picnic!

Like Mother, like daughter

Laurie has watched me put on my makeup plenty of times but this morning she decided that she needed in on the action too! I would put on mascara and then she would have to have some on her eyes. I put on lipstick and she wanted some too...you get the picture! I was only pretending to put all this stuff on her because we were planning on going out later in the day and I did not want her to go out with makeup on her face at TWO. I told her how beautiful she looked when we got done (I mean she had to have hair spray and perfume too...the whole nine yards) and I took this picture right before we left to run our errands for the day. I guess she is picking up some things from me after all!
