Teddy Bear Picnic

Following Jonathan's class field trip to the Build A Bear workshop, his class embarked on a unit about teddy bears. The unit ended today with a teddy bear picnic with their new friends. One of the other first grade parents provided chick fil a meals for all the kids at the picnic and the teachers provided the trimmings. Jonathan said that he enjoyed the picnic! I did not go up to the school since I will be with the class tommorrow to work on the end of the year teacher presents. Jonathan has really enjoyed this unit and being able to take his bear to school all week!!

The Tradition Continues!

This afternoon I made brownies with Nicholas and Laurie Grace (before Jonathan got home from school). They both wanted to help mix the ingredients and pour them in too. I let them help as much as they were able to...and it sure took me back to the days when I used to make them with my mother. I remember that my favorite part was licking the beaters after the batter was in the oven and guess what my kids' favorite part was????

These are things I want to remember from their childhood...it is things I want them to remember too! I am so glad that something so ordinary and simple as making brownies could put some a smile on their faces!!

Teacher Appreciation Week

This week is teacher appreciation week! Jonathan and Nicholas have had some AWESOME teachers this year!! They have gone above and beyond for their students and I am so glad that they did! The boys took in their gifts today to school. Nicholas took a plant to his teachers. We took the pots and painted thumbprint bees on them and wrote "thanks for beeing you!" on them. The final product was so cute. Jonathan took a nice red/orange leporard print coffee cup with some specialty coffee in for his assistant. He took in a to go cup holder gift for his teacher. I took an idea from someone else and used it to make this gift. We decorated a to go cup holder up and filled it with many small gifts from notepads to lotion to candles and chocolates. I am glad that there is a week set aside to recognize all teachers for the tremendous contribution they make on all children.

Build A Bear Workshop Field Trip

Jonathan and I went to Build A Bear Workshop in Greenville with his first grade class for a field trip last Friday (April 30). This was his last field trip for the first grade! He will be doing a unit on teddy bears this coming week at school complete with a teddy bear picnic, using the teddy bears they made on the field trip. I was so glad to able to spend this time with Jonathan! A big thank you to Aunt Angie and Papa for making that possible!!
Jonathan created a chocolate cub ready for the beach...complete with trunks, sun glasses, and a beach lounge chair!

Upward Soccer Season 2010

Both Jonathan and Nicholas are playing Upward Soccer this year. Jonathan is playing for the Longhorns and his team is coached by Todd Yeisley. Nicholas is playing for the Little Bears and his team is coached by Gabe O' Sullivan and Kevin Harrison. The boys are enjoying the game and doing well. Nicholas has been scoring an average of 6 goals per game and is loving being on a team with such sweet girls and guys. Jonathan is in a harder, more competitive league and he is really getting in there and trying his best. I am so proud of both of my little athletes!! Here are some of the shots from their first practices and the first couple of games.

Nicholas' 5th birthday party!

On Saturday, April 17, we had Nicholas' birthday party at Chuck E Cheese at 2pm. We invited his friends from school and some from church too. The kids played games and then we ate cake, ice cream and opened the presents. The party was simple but very relaxing for the hostess...that I liked! All the kids seemed to have a great time too. Nicholas received lots of nice gifts and we have been taking things out of boxes and putting things together for the last couple of days.

Happy Birthday to Us!!

Today Nicholas turns 5 and I turn a few years older than that! We are both having a great day and would like to thank our friends and family for all their good wishes! Nicholas had a party at CEC on Saturday and today he took cupcakes (chocolate with chocolate icing and mini m&ms on top) to school to celebrate again. His friends at school all made him a birthday card individually and one together as a class. After school, we went to Mc Donald's for lunch with Erin, Morgan, and Ryan. We also saw the Snooks and Browns from church there. He has a baseball game and soccer practice tonight if the weather holds out! So I would say that he will have a full, busy, but great day today!!

I have also had a good day...many birthday wishes and three different renditions of 'happy birthday'! My husband surprised me with some rainbow flip flops (which I have been wanting for some time now) and an outfit this morning. Thank you so much Chris...I love you! My Mom and Dad sent me some money with which I bought myself two new tops. Erin gave me some good smelling lotion, bath and body works stuff. I am so thankful to have such caring family and friends! God is so good to all of us!
