Happy Birthday to Us!!

Today Nicholas turns 5 and I turn a few years older than that! We are both having a great day and would like to thank our friends and family for all their good wishes! Nicholas had a party at CEC on Saturday and today he took cupcakes (chocolate with chocolate icing and mini m&ms on top) to school to celebrate again. His friends at school all made him a birthday card individually and one together as a class. After school, we went to Mc Donald's for lunch with Erin, Morgan, and Ryan. We also saw the Snooks and Browns from church there. He has a baseball game and soccer practice tonight if the weather holds out! So I would say that he will have a full, busy, but great day today!!

I have also had a good day...many birthday wishes and three different renditions of 'happy birthday'! My husband surprised me with some rainbow flip flops (which I have been wanting for some time now) and an outfit this morning. Thank you so much Chris...I love you! My Mom and Dad sent me some money with which I bought myself two new tops. Erin gave me some good smelling lotion, bath and body works stuff. I am so thankful to have such caring family and friends! God is so good to all of us!

Greenville Zoo ELC Trip

Yesterday Nicholas and I went with the 4 year old classes at the ELC to the Greenville Zoo. The weather was gorgeous...not too hot or too cold! Nicholas went through the zoo with Daniel, Cameron, and Morgan. They loved the elephants and the farm animals. I was fortunate enough that my father in law was able to watch Laurie Grace so that I could enjoy the zoo with just Nicholas. Thank you Papa!!

Women of Joy 2010

This year my mother in law, sister in law, and I went to the women of joy conference in Seiverville, TN instead of the one in Charleston. The scenery was different but the conference was great as usual. This year we heard from some great speakers including Kay Arthur, Karen Kingsbury, and Anita Renfroe. We are had the priviledge of hearing Michael W Smith and Steven Curtis Chapman!! Charles Billingsley lead the worship at every session too. My current new aspiration is to be a back up singer for Charles....loved his music! We also met a new friend this weekend. My mother in law met this girl named Christie who had come about six hours to the conference all my herself. She introduced us to her and we all hit it off right away! She is such a sweet girl and really loves the Lord. We are planning to keep in touch through FB. I am so glad for these conferences. I need to be renewed this way every now and then.

Opening day for the 2010 baseball season

I was out of town attending a women's conference when Nicholas had his opening day for the baseball season this year. So on Saturday morning, April 10, Chris took all the kids and they went to the ball park. Nicholas' team had pictures done first and then they played the first game. Nicholas enjoyed playing catcher and he did a great job at bat. I believe he got two hits in that first game and even though they don't officially keep score in this young league, Nicholas' team won the game! Go Marlins!!

Happy Easter!

This year Easter was especially special because it fell on my Dad's birthday-April 4! Even though we were not able to be together to celebrate it, we will be doing lots of partying when they get home. After the kids opened their Easter baskets, we all went to church together. My brothers, Nathan and Kevin, were visiting for the weekend too. We had a beautiful service and then headed to nanny's house (my mother in law's house). We had a great lunch and enjoyed the afternoon together!

My pride and joys!!!

My brothers took the boys to play tennis on Saturday afternoon and I thought I would include a picture or two from that experience!

Spring parties and Easter Egg Hunt 2010

Both Jonathan and Nicholas had Easter parties last week at school. The one that Jonathan had was done during the school hours and done in conjuction with some other spring activities. His class did several spring activities including the life cycle of the butterfly and an egg hunt. The party that Nicholas had was done with an egg hunt and Laurie and I were able to attend the party. The boys enjoyed the parties as they have enjoyed all their school experiences this year.

This morning (April 3) we took the kids to the Easter egg hunt at church. They opened with a puppet show and short gospel presentation and then the kids went to hunt the eggs. Laurie could hardly wait to 'hunt' for her eggs. The boys were excited too and they all got lots of eggs. The Easter bunny even made an appearance!

Of sickness, sports, and spring break

This week the kids and Chris have had spring break. The week started off well but then Nicholas woke up with a fever and had to be taken to the minute clinic since it was a Saturday. We found out that he had a double ear infection and a sinus infection and needed an antibiotic! Then on Monday morning early (about 5am), Jonathan came into our room with a high fever and complaining of his throat hurting. I took him to the doctor and she told me that he had strep throat and needed an antibiotic. So that was two of my children on an antibiotic within forty eight hours!! Somehow by God's grace, Laurie has remained healthy through this whole week.
The other thing we have had going on this week has been baseball practice. Nicholas had a scrimmage on Tuesday night and a practice on Friday night. Nicholas loves baseball and is a pretty good player. He is playing on a team called the Marlins. Both boys are starting soccer on Tuesday night (April 6).
Also during this week, the weather has changed and spring time has arrived. Chris and I have gotten the kids out in the nice warm weather to play as much as possible. We even took them to the park for a picnic lunch on Wednesday. I know we didn't do too much during spring break but everyone is now healthy and feeling great just in time to celebrate Easter!
